And 8 reasons why I probably won’t continue to do so.

When I was 24 I got dumped by my ex of 3 years. He was 6 years my senior. While that age gap wasn’t very significant, it was the oldest I’d ever dated up until that point. In the past when I was in high school and college I typically dated men who were my age because that’s who I was around most.

As I got older and found myself single I realized there was a whole world of men out there, literally, of all ages. On the dating apps and even in person, sometimes I didn’t know the ages…

Freud talked about it best in his psychoanalytical theories: some people are prone to developing what is known as an oral fixation, which he theorized was caused by unmet needs in early childhood. It’s what causes some people to smoke cigarettes, others to bite their nails, and then others to overeat, or to constantly have a drink in their hand.

In early childhood it may have looked like needing a pacifier to calm down, or chronic thumb-sucking, but it can evolve into adulthood into other more dangerous habits.

I think we all have varying levels of oral fixations. For instance…

Mental health and Suicide

The real cause of suicidal thoughts is not what you’d expect

When we experience suicidal thoughts, there can be a plethora of mental, emotional, and even physical reasons. As an intuitive shaman, I have come to understand the spiritual side of life.

When we have suicidal thoughts, we are not necessarily craving a physical death. We are craving a change.

Death signifies a major change in the Rider-Waite tarot deck. It is a symbol of letting go of the past and starting over.

When we become so overwhelmed in life to the point that we have suicidal thoughts, it is not necessarily because we actually want to kill ourselves, though it…

If you want to spice things up in the bedroom and have an unexpectedly insane orgasm when having sex or masturbating, I’m going to recommend something a bit kinky.

I’m going to give you permission to imagine whoever you want while you are going at it. Maybe you have someone in mind, and if not, I recommend the first person who comes to mind. The stranger the better.

Whether that is a friend, a celebrity, someone of the opposite gender than you would typically have sex with, an authority figure, someone you hate or fear, or even your grandma (I…

We met at a nude beach, and he was polyamorous, to boot.

I’m all for alternative lifestyles, but this was one I’d never heard of before.

It’s common for people to live in their vans, especially here in California, to see people parked alongside the coast in big hippie or Sprinter vans. I’d also heard of people living out of their car, usually due to destitution rather than by choice.

I decided to take a trip to the local nude beach, Black’s, here in San Diego, on New Year’s Day of 2020. I had no expectations. In fact I hadn’t even been planning on going. …

In the latest updates regarding my mental health journey, which has been long and strenuous, I recently decided to see a naturopathic doctor instead of a Western medical professional.

For reference, I’ve spent the last 8 years in and out of various treatments for my mental health, trying different medications and seeing different psychiatrists and therapists, to even going to a mental hospital, to no avail.

I had just about given up and decided that even though my quality of life wasn’t as good as it used to be, at least I was no longer feeling as depressed with the…

What you can do about it, why they do it subconsciously, and why it can sometimes be a good thing.

We all exist at various levels of consciousness depending upon what we have experienced in life.

What that looks like graphically is this:

Using the Law of Attraction

I was quite shy when I was in my early 20s, to the point that sure, men would hit on me at parties or in places you might expect. But when I was out and about it wasn’t as common as it is now, even though I’m older in my late 20s.

Yes, I’m still young, so perhaps these methods are not fail safe. But I have shifted my approach since my early 20s, to make myself more approachable to men, and I’ve noticed a difference. …

As someone who has spent years working in health research administration, both in an academic and non-academic setting, when I got the job at Stanford, even though it was an 8-hour drive away from my hometown of San Diego, it was an offer I felt I couldn’t refuse.

Stanford is the Harvard of the west coast. In fact the two are comparable when it comes to statistics regarding being some of the best universities in the entire world.

I graduated from UC San Diego with a degree in public health and attained a job working there shortly after graduation. I…

Also known as her sacred moon cycle

Photo by Erol Ahmed on Unsplash

Ah, the period. Menstruation. That time of the month. Aunt Flo. Uncle T-O-M (Get it?). Shark week. Code red. There are so many names for this infamous time in a woman’s cycle.

In modern life, a woman’s period can be considered a hindrance to productivity, a bad thing, something that has the ability to stop us from doing things we’d normally like to do (though tampon commercials would tell us otherwise).

If we look at the purpose of the period from a purely physical level, it is the shedding of the uterine lining during a woman’s menstrual cycle.

This is what we all learn in sex ed — if a woman does not get pregnant that month, she will shed the uterine lining that has been building…
